and graduating in 1971. He served as mayor from 1990 until 2010. Mayor Coble was re-elected in 2006 after facing a minor challenge with well over 60% of the citywide vote.

In October 2008, the city council voted in favor of Bob Coble's plan to prohibit smoking in all bars and restaurants in the city of Columbia.
