In later years, until the club closed in 1999, former Haçienda DJ Dave Haslam

 played the regular Yellow night at the Boardwalk. Dave subsequently wrote a book about the Manchester music scene at the time, Manchester, England; ISBN 1-84115-146-7.

Funkademia was started by DJ and promoter David Payne at The Boardwalk in 1995. Funkademia has since gone on to be manchesters longest running club night. The club night is now based in Manchesters Northern Quarter at a club called Mint Lounge.

One of the better bands to play at The Boardwalk, a Congleton five piece called The Stark, faded in to immediate obscurity despite great reviews and were never heard of again, probably because their music was too mainstream for the Manchester scene at the time.
