Blood and Sand is a 1989 Spanish drama film

. It was based on the novel Blood and Sand of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez
, which had been made three times before in 1916, 1922 and 1941.
Blood and Sand (Spanish name Sangre y Arena) revolves around the young and talented natural gifted Toreros Juan Gallardo played by Christopher Rydel. Gallardo wants to be popular in bull fighting in his. His love Carmen(Ana Torrent), has a cousin whom left home with Gallardo for bullfighting competition. They successfully earn some level and skills in the arena, but something went wrong and the bull charged at Gallardo, but his friend saves Gallardo and costs his own life. Gallardo then left and met Lady Dona Sol (Sharon Stone) a beautiful rich lady, where he was offered to join her company as a worker of her fields and lands, but Gallardo insisted to become a superstar in bull fighting in hi country. As Gallardo leaving her home, a security guard tells him to join the a bull fighting trainer Nacional (Albert Vidal). Nacional trains Gallardo until he was able to join the national bull fighting competition. Another friend of Gallardo, Garabato (Guillermo Montesinos) also joins him. He did brilliant skills in his first appearance of national league, his popularity rises and his brother in law Simón Andreu gave him great respect after the very harsh behavior which he did on him at his friend's death.
Gallardo then married to Carmen and his poplarity increases weeks after weeks. Gallardo soon gets crush on Lady Dona Sol, which started dramatic twist in the movie. As time passes, Gallardo falls deeply in love with Lady Dona Sol and offered to marry her but Lady Dona Sol wasn't interested int the marriage. Gallardo's witfe Carmen finally came to Lady Dona Sol and talk about Gallardo, but instead Lady Dona Sol shows where Gallardo is hiding, this made Gallardo's wife extremely in a desperate and difficult situation. Later than, Gallardo have an affair with Lady Dona Sol, but to soon find out Lady Dona Sol had talked to his bull fighting rival and slaps her in the face. He then tied Lady Dona Sol to the bed and play BDSM on her, tortured her by piercing her private parts and inserted rings everywhere. She felt total submission and pawnage by Gallardo deep within her heart. But Gallardo couldnt satisfy her which led her to find a more skilful man to overcome her thirst for high sexual desires. Realizing his short-outcome, Gallardo ran out half naked to the dark.
That night, Gallardo went to a midnight bar and hung out with some bar girls. He was drunk while his trainer Nacional entered the bar, advising him to focus on the competition for the next day. Angered, Gallardo kicks Nacional in the crotch and asks him to leave. Nacional left with agony, and without a word as Gallardo heads back to Lady Dona Sol's home and continue to make love to her while tied.
On the final act, Gallardo begun the grand bull fighting competition. He successfully tricked the dumb bull and its time to kill it. With the final move, when Gallardo was about to pierce the bull with his sword, the bull suddenly charged its horn into Gallardo stomach and threw him off the ground several time. Paramedics ran to Gallardo and sent him to trauma room immediately as Carmen and Nacional chased after them to see what had become of Gallardo. While back in the arena, Gallardo's rival bull fighter has won and the crowds cheers for him, with Lady Dona Sol smiling at the winner. Gallardo passes out and died in the trauma room, as doctors covered his face, Carmen and Nacional weeps for the dead Gallardo. The story ends with Lady Dona Sol looking at her private parts.
