The Surrey Border & Camberley Railway
Just eastwards from Blackwater station was the site of the Camberley terminus of this short-lived 10 1/4 inch gauge railway that ran to Farnborough Green, near Frimley rail station, with one intermediate station at Cove Wood. Practically the whole railway, including its engines and stations, were reproduced to 1/6 of the size of a standard British railway. The line was opened by Graham Moffatt of 'Oh Mr Porter' fame, on 23 July 1938, and ran primarily through that summer. Operations lasted until the outbreak of the Second World War, which spelt abrupt closure. Traces of the line today are difficult to spot, with much of the route disappearing with the coming of the M3 motorway and associated roads in the 1970s-1990s. Worse still, the route was never actually featured on any Ordnance Survey maps.Services
