Amenities

The village has four pubs, Corrigans, the Blackwater Lodge (which is also a hotel), Whelan's and Seanie's (which has undergone several name changes in recent years). It also has a video Arcade called the Glider.

Lately the village has increased its population, and has seen the building of hundreds of houses in the village itself and in outlying areas.

Blackwater is very close to Ballyconnigar beach, a site with one of the highest levels of erosion due to tidal forces. This beach is close to Curracloe strand, where the opening scene of the film "Saving Private Ryan

Sports

The local GAA team is St. Brigids Blackwater, the hurling team are in the Senior Championship. The gaelic football won the 2009 Junior Championship.

The local soccer team is called Blackwater AFC.

Blackwater has a Par 3 golf course which is located about 5 minutes drive outside of the village.
