The Birmingham Blitz Dames (BBD) are a roller derby
league based in Birmingham
in England
. Founded in October 2006, the league currently has two teams, the Bombshells and the Sirens, and a mixed team which competes with teams from other leagues.
The league was the first league to form in the UK outside London, and was originally known as the Birmingham Blitz Derby Dames. The league bouted against London Rockin Rollers
on 27 October 2007, the first ever roller derby bout in Europe between two different leagues. By April of the following year, they were attracting crowds of 500 people to Cocks Moor Leisure Centre for their bouts.
In June 2008, the league played against a mixed team from Canada, on the first international tour of the UK. In 2010, they were founder members of the UK Roller Derby Association.
Two skaters from the league were selected for the Roller Derby World Cup
in 2011: Violet Attack for Team England, and Roisin Roulette for Team Ireland.
