, first elected in 2010. Bill sits on the following Select Committees; Environment, Food and Rural Affairs; Education.

Prior to being elected as Member of Parliament for Sefton Central, he was the Labour Councillor for River Ward in Kent. A ward that he had represented since the creation of Medway Council. Bill was also previously the Councillor for Town ward in Rochester-upon-Medway City Council before it was dissolved to form Medway Council.

Movingly contributed to the Hillsborough debate in the House of Commons on the 17th October 2011 by reading directly the words of a bereaved father.
