The battalion was involved in special surgical operations against the "then" Maoist terrorist, for which its methods came under heavy criticism regarding human rights, due to its lack of proper logistics and intelligence, and poor methods of information extraction and interrogation.

The battalion is currently merged into another battalion of special forces, mainly the Ranger battalion and other battalions of Commando
