Bhadrak Institute of Engineering & Technology (BIET) in Orissa

, was established in 1982. The Degree Engineering Courses started in the year 1997, M.C.A. Courses in 1998, M.B.A. courses in 2002 and the I.T.I. Courses in 2000.
BIET is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE
). Also there is an ISTE student's chapter, which conducts seminars/workshops and other related activities from time to time.
To serve the society by disseminating technical knowledge as well as providing qualitative technical manpower .
To provide affordable technical education to all those who aspire for it.
To promote and foster National integration .
BIET hostel is a home away from home. Here students stay in a healthy atmosphere and perfect living conditions along with friends to share the precious moments of life.There are four separate hostels for boys and girls with all modern amenities to help the students in concentrating on their studies. Besides, PCS with Internet connectivity (Wi-Fi) is also provided in the hostels.
Each Hall has a mess of its own managed by the boarders through their elected representatives and a mess manager under the guidance of Hostel Superintendents.
Each hostel is equipped with a T.V. room with cable connection, a common room with indoor games facilities & Incoming telephone facility to make the stay of the inmates comfortable and enjoyable. Hostels are also provided with 24hour bacteria free water supply facility.
RULES OF HALL OF RESIDENCE
Every boarder must join the mess attached to it. Mess rules as notified by the Assistant superintendent / Superintendent/ Warden/ Principal from time to time shall be observed by all boarders.
Mess dues( i.e.; cost of food including other overhead and established charges) should be paid every month by the dates as notified by the hall authorities, failing which the concerned boarder has to pay fines for the days of default, as imposed by the Superintendent of the hall, besides a defaulter will not be permitted to pay his installment dues to the college/ fill up his forms for examinations unless he submits up to date clearance from his hall.
A defaulter of payment of mess dues exceeding one month will be debarred from mess facilities, besides, he will not be allowed to continue as a border and his name will be struck off the college rolls.
Boarders are to share responsibilities in running their messes and keeping their Halls clean and tidy.
Room furniture, electrical fittings and other Hall properties are required to be maintained by the students in good condition. Each boarder should check the fittings in his room at the time of occupation and take over of the fittings and furniture in writings which are returnable on vacation of the room. Any loss or damage will be borne by the concerned boarders.
Boarders are not allowed to alter the electrical fittings in their rooms. Use of electrical appliances such as heaters, coolers etc. is strictly prohibited.
Students shall not remain absent from their hall during the night between 9.00 pm and 5.00 am without prior permission of the superintendent. The corresponding timing for the Ladies Hostel is 7.00 pm and 7.00 am.
Visitors are not permitted to stay in Hall after 8.00 pm and the guests of students are not allowed to stay in the Hall. Male visitors are not permitted at any time into the Hall for Ladies. Female visitors are not permitted at any time into Halls for Boys.
Boarders shall not leave the Halls without prior permission of the superintendent. They shall apply to superintendent /Assistant superintendent stating reasons of leaving and address of destination.
Borders will be personally/ collectively responsible for any loss or damage caused to the properties and equipments and other fittings in the common places, due to indiscipline.
College will not be responsible for acts of students which lead to the disturbance of public peace and tranquility or cases of law and order in which they are knowingly or unknowingly involved inside or outside the college premises.
Consumption of liquor and narcotics is prohibited. Any student found drunk/ addicted is liable to be expelled.
Boarders must treat their fellow boarders, College staff, Hall staff, Mess staff with dignity and decorum.
Harassment of juniors/ Ragging in any form, mental or physical will be treated as serious offence. Inflicting any moral turpitude in the minds of any of the inmates (juniors in particular) will attract severe disciplinary action.
Ragging inside or outside the Hall/ Campus is alien to our culture and hence is strictly prohibited. Any one indulging in ragging is liable to be summarily punished.
Each border will be responsible for his/ her belongings. The college will not be responsible for any loss incurred due to his/ her negligence or any other reason whatsoever. Boarders are advised not to keep heavy cash and valuable in the room.
Each student will carry identity card whenever he/ she goes outside the Hall and produce on demand from College/ Hall authorities.
Additional rules for Halls for ladies will be applicable as may be notified by the Hall authorities from time to time.
Exhibition of video films is strictly banned in the Halls.
Library
The Institute has a library-cum-reading room located in the main academic block that caters to the need of teachers and students. It is a well stocked library with more than 32,322 volumes of text & reference books. Besides, the institute subscribes to 115 nos. of journals and periodicals of national & International repute ,Multimedia, CDs by IITians, Study materials of NPTEL / MIT and e-journals (IEEE/IEE ,ASME) . It also procures important magazines and dailies, which play a vital role in providing up-to-date information in various fields of Engineering, Technology & Management. Selected books are added from time to time to keep the library updated. The library remains open from 8 A.M. to 10 P.M. (including Sundays & Holidays).
The institute provides CDs prepared by IITs on different subjects to the students. Moreover it has Del-net facilities through which 35 lakhs books, journals etc. can be accessed.
Laboratories
A vital component of technical education is practical knowledge, Management has a keen eye on improving the practical knowledge of students by incorporating new and updated equipment in the labs with latest technology, which gives the students an added advantage. Equipment of the labs are calibrated from time to time to keep them in proper shape and to get the desired result with high precision. BIET has the largest workshop of its kind with equipment and tools that increase the practical skills of students. Use of state-of--the-art equipment helps students in imbibing fundamentals and new equipment are being purchased from time to time to satisfy the requirement of the university courses.
Class Rooms
Classrooms are well furnished with L.C.D. projector facilities. Seminar halls are available in every academic building for MCA/MBA/B.Tech. Courses. Management is keen to provide an auditorium and separate library buildings for different levels of Engg. Streams of B.Tech./MBA & MCA courses. The Institute is also keen to start M.Tech. courses under B.P.U.T.and work in this direction is in progress.
Transport
BIET has it own fleet of vehicles to cater to the transportation needs of its students, staff members and visiting guests. These buses serve as the link between the campus and the city. The institute is well-connected to all major cities of the country by rail and bus.
Health Care
To keep the body and mind fit to undertake the challenges of life, BIET has made all provisions for its students through sports and games. A P.H.C. situated adjacent to the college campus can meet any health related casualty.Two Ambulances have been provided with 24 hours services.Besides, a Pharmacist has been appionted with a first-Aid centre to help the students.
