Bethany House Publishers is an evangelical publisher that publishes mostly Christian fiction and Non-Fiction. Bethany House Publishers was bought out in 2003 by Baker Publishing Group. In 2010, Bethany House has been open of fifty-two years.

For Fiction, there are two types of fiction published by Bethany House Publishers, Historical and Contemporary. Historical Fiction is considered any book that its setting is prior to 1950. Contemporary Fiction is defined as any book that its main setting in is the last fifty years. The fiction books can be stand alone or series. In non-fiction, there are three categories the book can fall in, Bethany Backyard, Devotional/Personal Growth, and Contemporary Issues. Bethany Backyard is devotional or homeschool books for children. Devotional/ Personal Growth is books that is for your quiet time. Contemporary Issues are books that give information and answers questions about contemporary issues. Examples of Contemporary Issues are Marriage and Family, Women’s Issues,Spirituality, Cults, Applied Theology. (Mettee)

Manuscript and other services
Bethany House offers two types of manuscript services.They offer First Edition which puts manuscripts on a website for subscribing Publishers to read and possible pick up. The second is the Writer’s Edge Manuscript Service, where Bethany house will read the manuscript and send out to subscribing publishers. They also make available writer’s conference services.
