Beswick is an area of the city of Manchester
, in North West England
. The River Medlock
and the Ashton Canal
both run through it. It neighbours the district of Bradford to the east and the two areas are sometimes referred to as Bradford-with-Beswick
.
Like many districts in east Manchester, Beswick has been known for its deprivation and poverty, although the area has improved since the 2002 Commonwealth Games

At the height of the Industrial Revolution
there was less industry here than in Bradford Village and it was primarily a residential area of terraced houses.

Beswick is the home of the Etihad Stadium, the largest ASDA in uk, and the new Beswick Library which is situated in the East Manchester Academy. Beswick is also due to have the metro line running through, and to be one of the main tram stops. Beswick is also soon to have the new Manchester City Sports Village with a new hotel and bars, and it is the home of the manchester Veledrome and BMX centre, there is also a new Aquatics centre to be built on Grey mare lane. Beswick is said to be a rapidly up and coming area and a great place to live with fantastic sport facilities. Two churches three primary schools, and the new East Manchester Academy. Beswick is a 10 minute walk from Piccadily train station.
