Bernice Hansen

Bernice Hansen was a voice artist who did a number of female character voices for Warner Bros.
cartoons in the 1930s and early-1940s. She also did male characters that required squeaky voices.
Hansen is often credited with voicing the mouse called Sniffles
, although some researchers consider Gay Seabrook
to be the voice of the character , as does Turner Classic Movies
, which most often airs the Sniffles cartoons in America. She was also one of the voices of Andy Panda
.
Hansen, like all the Warner voice artists (except Mel Blanc
) received no on-screen credits in the cartoons, and with several of the 1930s female voices (Hansen, Seabrook and Sara Berner ) apparently having a similar sound, research on the matter has proven challenging.
Hansen died of kidney disease in her home. She was 83.
