 and others are known to stimulate macrophages to degrade extracellular albumin, allowing faster resorption of edematous fluids.

Naturally occurring coumarin is also the basis for various 4-hydroxybenzopyrone-based molecules which occur naturally dicoumarol and are made synthetically warfarin
