Sigmund scored his first goal for the Nix in the first game of the 2009-10 season against the Newcastle Jets in a 3-2 loss. On 8 December 2009, defender Sigmund was handed a three match suspension after being cited by the match review panel for punching Melbourne Victory's Adrian Leijer in an off-the-ball incident in the round 17 1-1 draw at Westpac Stadium. However because the referee did not see the incident, he was not carded.

International career

Sigmund represented New Zealand at U-17 and U-20 level before progressing to the Senior Mens team.
