) is a New Zealand
soccer player who currently plays for A-League
club Wellington Phoenix. He has represented New Zealand at U-17

Sigmund scored his first goal for the Nix in the first game of the 2009-10 season against the Newcastle Jets in a 3-2 loss. On 8 December 2009, defender Sigmund was handed a three match suspension after being cited by the match review panel for punching Melbourne Victory's Adrian Leijer in an off-the-ball incident in the round 17 1-1 draw at Westpac Stadium. However because the referee did not see the incident, he was not carded.
Sigmund made his international debut as a substitute in August 2000 against Oman
, but did not earn a second cap until 2007, where he earned a call up to play Wales
in Wrexham
after nearly seven years in the football wilderness.
On 6 September 2008 Sigmund scored his first international goal in a 3-1 win over New Caledonia
with a header from a corner. This game qualified the All Whites for the 2009 Confederations Cup, as well as earned New Zealand the right to play off against the 5th placed AFC
team for a place in the 2010 FIFA World Cup
. Sigmund was named as All White captain for the final match of the 2008 OFC Nations Cup
against Fiji
and also regularly serves the role of co-vice captain along with fellow Phoenix player Tim Brown.
Sigmund was named New Zealand Football Player of the year following a successful 2007-08 season with club and country.
