The department, which is led up by Fire Chief Steve Sims, is a career department, working on a paid basis with 33 paid/full time firefighters (11 per shift), who also function as Paramedics and EMTs on the ambulances. The department also has 1 Chief, 1 Deputy Chief, and 1 Fire Inspector. In November 2005, Bella Vista became a certified Firewise Community. Stations, Equipment and Apparatus

Bella Vista has three fire stations. Station 1 is at Town Center, Station 2 at the corner of Trafalgar Rd. and Commonwealth Rd. on the East Side, and Station 3 is off Glasgow Rd. near the Branchwood Recreational Facility on the West Side. Each station is staffed 24/7 with paid firefighters, with the normal daily staffing being 11 including 6 at Station 1, 3 at Station 2, and 2 at Station 3. The department operates two frontline fire engines, two reserve/standby engines, one 75 ft. ladder/quint truck, one heavy rescue truck, five ALS/Paramedic ambulances aka "Squads" (4 frontline, 1 reserve, which are co-operated with Bella Vista Ambulance Services
