. It gained national attention on February 29, 2000 when 6 year old Kayla Rolland was shot and killed by classmate Derrick Owens at Buell Elementary School. The school closed in 2002 and has since been demolished.

Schools

The Beecher Community School District is made up of three different buildings; Dailey Elementary School, Tucker Elementary School and Beecher Middle High School.

Athletics

Beecher's mascot is the Beecher Buccaneer. Sports in the school system include football, basketball, wrestling, baseball, track and field, and softball. Varsity football is coached by Courtney Hawkins. In 2009-2010 the football team went 9-0, and won the conference title. Beecher also has a little league football and basketball program.
