"Beautiful Girl" was the fifth, internationally released single from the 1992 album Welcome to Wherever You Are

. The song was written by Andrew Farriss
who was inspired to write this by the birth of his baby daughter. In an interview by Debbie Kruger the INXS keyboardist explained: "I was writing lyrics like "Baby Don't Cry" and "Beautiful Girl" and lyrics just about how wonderful it is to have something else in your life besides yourself to worry about and think about."
The most rare thing about this release, was it in the US was available only in Cassette format and not in digital format (Compact Disc) (see track listings).
The band is recording an album in memory of Michael Hutchence. Brandon Flowers
of the band The Killers revealed that he recorded the song "Beautiful Girl" with the band however after hearing Pat Monahan of the band Train
's version of the song he decided to defer The album is being produced by James Ash
of Rogue Traders
