Bauer Liverpool
Encyclopedia
Bauer Liverpool is a local commercial digital radio
multiplex
in the United Kingdom, which serves the Liverpool
area.
EMAP Digital Radio was awarded the licence on February 10, 2000, having been the only application by the closing date of November 9, 1999. The licence was advertised on July 20, 1999 and launched on February 21, 2001.
Radio City 96.7
, the main commercial station in the area, is situated directly beneath one of the DAB transmitters, Radio City Tower, and is owned by Bauer, as are other local stations on the multiplex City Talk
and Magic 1548
.
The multiplex was initially labelled as "EMAP Liverpool" but was renamed due to Bauer Media Group purchasing Emap's radio assets.
Once local adoption of digital radios had reached 31%, another transmitter at Moel-y-Parc was to be added. This never happened.
Most of these stations are also available on Bauer Central Lancashire
, though Radio City and Magic are replaced by local stations Rock FM
and Magic 999
. City Talk
is not available on that platform.
