Bathory (album)
Encyclopedia
Bathory is the debut album of the Swedish band Bathory
. It is considered one of the first recorded examples that defined the black metal
style.
Originally the title for this album was Pentagrammaton, but this title was discarded when several people read it as "Pentagon". The pentagram was moved to the back of the album cover and replaced with a retouched portion of a drawing made by Joseph A. Smith in 1981 for the book Witches by Erica Jong
.
It was first printed in 300 vinyl copies, with a yellow goat instead of a white one. The second pressing with the correct white goat and pentagram was printed in 1000 vinyl copies. On the reissue of the CD in 1990, "Storm of Damnation" and "Outro" aren't mentioned in the tracklist.
