Since it was reformed in 1961, however it has gone from strength to strength with its dedication to under age affairs paying rich dividends. Several Junior A Hurling titles plus a number of minor and Under-21 Championships have been won. Most of its successes have been in hurling.
Barryroe won their seventh West Cork Junior A Hurling Championship on Sunday the 9 September 2007 in Timoleague
defeating Newcestown
by 3-12 to 0-6. They followed this up with wins over Erin's Own
and Kinsale
to reach their 2nd County Final. In this final they defeated fancied Charleville
by 2-19 to 2-13 to win the Cork Junior 'A' Hurling Championship
for the first time. The club have participated in the Intermediate A
since 2008.
Two other natives of Barryroe - Mick Finn and Jack Cahalane - achieved success with Cork Senior Football teams in the 1940s. They were playing with Clonakilty
at the time.
