The hospital has 445 beds out of the 954 available in both hospitals of the trust. It operates a full range of acute medical services including internal medicine, surgery, gynaecology, orthopaedics, anaesthetics, haematology, stroke medicine, dermatology, paediatrics, genito-urinary medicine as well as some smaller other services. It has a busy 24 hour Accident and Emergency department, and a modern intensive care unit.

The psychiatric unit based at the Barnet Hospital site has recently undergone renovation, and has been relocated there from Edgware Community Hospital. It is under the auspices of a separate NHS trust.
