Miguel Barcelo created the Ron Barcelo Imperial

During the 1980s, Ron Barceló became the most popular rum in the Dominican Republic. Exports grew and the company began distribution outside of the Caribbean and America. In 1992, the company began an international campaign and, by 1994, Ron Barceló was exported to over 10 countries, with Spain as its biggest consumer.

In 2000, Barcelo & Co. began working with a group of Spanish entrepreneurs with many years of experience in the rum industry.

Ron Barceló is currently exported to more than 50 countries.

Rum elaboration plant

Developed in San Pedro de Macoris, in the east of the Dominican Republic, our rum elaboration Plant is oriented towards maintaining levels of excellence throughout the steps involved in the process of making exquisite rums.

Here are built several plants for alcohol aging, elaboration, bottling, storage of packaged and finished products, a laboratory, sensory evaluation, amongst others.

These facilities have cutting edge technology, equipments that exceeds all the industry's regulations and a qualified human resources, all of these confirming the commitment to offering products in optimum conditions, being the first and only rum elaboration plant in the Dominican Republic, and the second in the Caribbean, that has a management and continuous quality improvement system worthy of ISO 9001:2000 Certification.

Ratings

In 1980 Ron Barcelo created Barcelo Imperial, the noblest reserve of Dominican rum.

Two decades later it was awarded the distinction of being the best rum in the world, for two occasions, receiving 97 points out of 100, this being the highest score in the history of the prestigious awards of the Beverage Testing Institute of Chicago, USA.
