It was built in 1976 under Carrer Doctor Aiguader and Passeig de Joan de Borbó, right next to Ronda Litoral. It is the closest metro station to Estació de França, one of the city's major train stations, even though there is still no direct link between them. There used to be a metro station between Barceloneta and Jaume I known as Correos, which no longer exists due to changes in L4
