 and John Scofield. The John Scofield Trio featured on this album went on to release two live albums which were recorded sixteen months later in Munich, Germany ('Out Like a Light' and 'Shinola'). Bar Talk is stylistically very close to the later live recordings and features four Scofield compositions ('New Strings Attached', 'How to Marry a Millionaire', 'Fat Dancer', and 'Nature Calls') along with one by Steve Swallow ('Never') and Gary Campbell's 'Beckon Call'. Four of the six tracks from the album appeared as bonus tracks on the 1990 CD release of Scofield's Who's Who album.
