The other six gram panchayats under the Tapan block, viz. Ajmatpur, Hazratpur, Rampara Chenchra, Autina, Gurail and Ramchandrapur, will be part of the Gangarampur assembly constituency. The Gangarampur constituency will be reserved for Scheduled castes (SC) candidates, whereas the Tapan constituency will be reserved for Scheduled tribes (ST). All the four constituencies will be part of the Balurghat (Lok Sabha constituency)
