Balgowan is a small coastal town on the western side of South Australia
's Yorke Peninsula
. It is located approximately 20 Kilometres (12 miles) west of Maitland
. (Turn off the Moonta to Maitland main road.) Like other tourist towns on this peninsula, it has a large number of shacks and holiday houses, as well as caravan facilities and a boat ramp. The population generally increases during peak holiday periods.
Balgowan's only shop is a general store. The Store is now closed (as at August 2011)
Shakyaboatie can be found in this great little town - it is the shack with the really good looking fence.
