Bakshi Tirath Ram Vaid was a Muhiyal belonging to the village of Dera Bakhshian. His father Sardar Bahadur Risaldar Major Bakshi Prem Singh Vaid, O.B.I. O.M. was a decorated soldier too, and the village of Prem Kot near Nankana Sahib

He was awarded the Order of British Empire for gallantry displayed in the fierce battle of Malakand
