. The university is located equidistant between Ibadan and Lagos
. Enrolment was about 6,000 as of 2009.

in Nigeria in 1914. He was based in Erunmu in Oyo State, Nigeria.
The university was established as the Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) in 1959, initially with 7 students. In 1975, it changed its name to Adventist Seminary of West Africa (ASWA). The university was officially inaugurated on April 20, 1999.
There are also plans in place to start a medical school which would be called Ben Carson School of Medicine. The school is currently carrying out fundraising activities to complete this 3 billion Naira project
