Obasanjo presidency

During the presidency of Olusegun Obasanjo he was appointed Minister of Education, Minister of State for the Federal
Ministry of Power and Steel, and Senior Special Advisor to the President.
When Obasanjo reconstituted his cabinet in July 2003 after the April 2003 elections, the Senate refused to ratify Borishade as a minister.

Borishade was appointed Minister of Aviation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in July 2005.
In December 2005, President Obasanjo directed Borishade to give his progress report on the steps taken to restore sanity in the aviation sector on a monthly basis.
He was replaced on 2 November 2006, four days after the crash of an ADC Airlines Boeing 737 passenger aircraft, and moved to the Culture and Tourism ministry, trading positions with Femi Fani-Kayode

An Austrian executive of one of the firms contracting for airport improvement told the EFCC that he had given a N1 billion bribe to Borishade.
Borishade and Fani-Kayode were initially denied bail and held in custody by the EFCC.
Nine days after their arrest, they were granted bail in the sum of N50 million each.
During a May 2009 hearing into what was alleged to be a N19.5 billion fraud, the EFCC heard evidence of payments made to Borishade while he was visiting Austria. The charges against Fani-Kayode as regards the N19.5B Aviation Intervention Fund were however later dropped.
