Azam FC is one of the most decorated and a symbol of most modern day football club in Tanzania is definitely Azam Football Club. In its short years of existence, Azam FC has become an envy of other Tanzania Mainland Premier League clubs.

Azam FC – established in 2007 – began as a football team of SSB workers who took the game of soccer as a hobby. It is no secret that SSB through Bakhresa Group is one of the leading Industrial Houses in Tanzania and Eastern Central Africa.

History

Established in 2007, the first major target was to get the best players who will help the now established Azam FC gain promotion to play in the Tanzanian Premier League

. That dream was realised as Azam FC joined the top flight football in 2008/09 season. Indeed, there was no looking behind as Azam FC with star-studded players became a force to reckon in the domestic league. Azam FC finished in eighth position in its first season on top flight football. But the team made a tremendous improvement the following season finishing in the third position.

Success

Apart of finishing in third position in last season, the team has managed to recruit the best players in the country. Former Young Africans and national team, Mrisho Ngassa

 is one of those players. Ngassa arrived at Azam FC with a record breaking transfer and is now the most expensive in the country.
Apart of Ngassa, the team has signed, Kally Ongalla from Sweden and Rwanda's skipper, Patrick Mafisango.
In the list also include, Jabir Aziz, Ramadhani “Redondo” Chombo and aerial Ugandan striker, Peter Ssenyonjo. The team striking force will combine, John Bocco who was among the top three scorers in the last season.
