Axel first appeared as a friend of Aden Jefferies and like him he loved to cause trouble. Unlike Aden, he seemed to be open to getting along with his fellow Summer Bay High students and helped to organise Sally Fletcher

The following day Axel asked Aden how Melody was, looking as if he was hiding something. Later he snuck into Melody's room, where he tried to make sure that she didn't remember anything from the night before.

On 5 June, Geoff Campbell threatened Axel after he found out what happened between Axel and Melody at the party. Later that day after Belle and Aden found out what happened, Axel was found beaten and unconscious on the beach by Belle. Both Geoff and Aden were in the frame for the attack.

Belle took Axel to hospital, the police came but Axel kept saying he couldn't remember anything and wouldn't talk to them. Belle then went and told Annie and Geoff, Geoff ran off and Belle went and confronted Aden about Axel's attack. Which after Belle realised that Aden did it. He said "He Deserved what he got". Geoff went to talk to Tony Holden

and told him he stood there and watched as Aden laid into him.

On 11 July, Axel was killed by Aden's father, Larry Jefferies, in a hit and run car accident.
