Avaraikulam is a village in Tirunelveli district

directly or indirectly. A temple Arulmigu Mutharamman Thirukovil is in the middle of the Village and which is famous for its Vaigasi (A Tamil Month) Thiruvizha. It has a school named Baliah Marthandam Memorial Higher Secondary School. The students from the surrounding villages are studying in Avaraikulam. Avaraikulam has many windmills to produce electricity from the wind.
. Thaangal members are planned to found an Arakattalai in the name of Vaikundar for the development of poor students and poor people. Every month the devotees in the village celebrates Muthalkizhamai at this thaangal on every first Sunday of Tamil month. The devotees celebrate 16 days Yedu Vasippu on karthigai month of every year. Ayya Vaikundar's Incornation (Maasi 20) is famous festival in the thaangal and other villages. Thousands of devotees will come to the thangal on the same day.

, Kenthi, Vadamalli, Pitchi, chevvanthi flowers. All these flowers are collected by small traders and sold in the nearby small town Thovalai flower market. All the flower traders come over there from different regions of Tamil Nadu even from Kerala and auction takes place. Many family temples are there. Other than that two Christian churches (CSI and RC) also there. All the people are united and do any decision for the development of the village. The village occupies only one caste Nadar

All the farmers are dependent on only the ground water for irrigation and due to little rain fall the ground water level goes very deep. So the children from the farmers' families deviate from their parents' occupation. Now three fourth of the boys in a family are getting awareness about their future life and study well and considerably getting good marks and finally migrate towards other cities and countries for better jobs.

17- ம் நுற்றாண்டின் தொடக்க காலத்தில் மக்கள் இங்கு வந்து குடியமர்ந்து திருக்கோயிலின் வளர்ச்சிதான் ஊரின் வளர்ச்சி என்ற சீரிய நிலைப்பாட்டை நிலை நிறுத்தி அருள்பாலித்து வரும் அம்மனின் வரலாற்றில் இவ்வூரின் சிறப்பு அடங்கும் .
வேளாண்மை பெருங்குடி மக்கள் வசித்து வருகின்ற பகுதியாக விளைச்சல் நிலங்கள்,குளங்கள் மிகுதியாக காணப்படுவதுடன் இப்பகுதியில் ஆவரைப்பூக்கள் பூத்து குலுங்கியதால் ஆவாரைகுளம் என்ற பெயர் காலப்போக்கில் ஆவரைகுளம் என்று பெயர் பெற்றது.
மாலிக்கபூரின் படையெடுப்பாலும் கொடுங்கோன்மையாலும் தாக்குண்ட பாண்டிய நாட்டு மக்கள் தெற்கு நோக்கி இடம் பெயர்ந்தனர்கள். நாடாண்ட பாண்டிய இனம் தாங்கள் வசிக்க இடம் தேடவேண்டியதாயிற்று. தற்போதைய தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம் குரும்பூர் அருகாமையிலுள்ள பூச்சிகாட்டில் இருந்து குடிபெயர்ந்தவர்களே ஆவரைகுளத்தின் முன்னோடிகள்.
இந்த காலகட்டத்தில் தன பூச்சிக்காட்டில் இருந்து குடிபெயர்ந்து வந்த உலகளந்தாள் என்ற பெண்ணும் இவரது தம்ப்பயுமான பிற்காலத்தில் ஆண்டிச்சாமியார் என்ற மரியாதையோடு அழைக்கப்பட்டவருமான ஆண் என்பவரும் தங்கள் வணங்கி வந்த தெய்வத்தின் அருளால் தலையில் தீச்சட்டியுடன் நடந்து வந்து தற்போது இத்திருக்கோயிலில் அமைந்துள்ள இடத்தில் தீச்சட்டியை இறக்கை வைத்து இப்பகுதியில் குடியேறினார்கள்.
தீச்சட்டியை இறக்கி வைக்கப்பட்ட இடத்தில் பீடம் அமைத்து சுற்றி ஓலைகள் வேயப்பட்ட நிலையில் தெய்வமான அம்மன் நிறுவப்பட்டது. முதலில் உலகளந்தாள் பூசாரியாக இருந்து வழிபாடுகள் நடத்தி வந்தார். பின் இவரது காலத்திற்கு பிறகு ஆண்டிச்சாமியார் பூசாரியாக பொறுப்பேற்றதோடு வழிபாடுகளும் நடத்தி வந்தார். பின்னர் இவர் ஊர்மக்களின் பேருதவியோடு வளர்ச்சி அடையதொடங்கியது ஓலை வேயப்பட்ட மூலஸ்தானம் விரிவாக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டு பின் ஒட்டுக்கூரை வேயப்பட்டு தற்போது மாபெறும் மண்டபமாக ஆக்கும் பணிகள் இனிதே நிறைவேறி வருகிறது.
ஊர் பொது மக்களின் ஆதரவுடன் அம்மனின் ஆலயம் சிறப்புற்று வந்த வேளையில் பக்கத்துக்கு கிராம மக்கள் அன்னையை வேண்டி சகல சௌபாக்கியங்களும் பெற்று அம்மனின் புகளை பரப்பினார்கள். இந்த செய்தியை கேட்ட "தளக்கிடப்பாரை தற்காப்பதே தர்மம் " என்ற இலக்கணம் படைத்த அய்யா வைகுண்ட சுவாமிகள் ஆவரைகுளத்திற்கு எழுந்தருளினார். அய்யாவும் ஆண்டிச்சாமியாரும் இறைவன் அருளால் சந்தித்து நடைப்பெற்ற போட்டியில் இருவரும் ஒரு பிரம்பை பிடித்து ஆட இருவரும் தோல்வியடைய நிலையில் பிரம்பு சரிபாதியாக இருவருக்கும் கிடைத்தது. ஆண்டிச்சாமியாரின் பக்க்திநேரியை அறிந்த வைகுண்ட சுவாமிகள் ஆவரைகுளம் அசையாப்பட்டணமாக விளங்கும் என அருள் பாவித்துச் சென்றார். ஆண்டிச்சாமியார் தன்னிடம் கிடைத்த பாதிபிரம்பை அம்மனின் பீடத்தில் வைத்து பூஜிக்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும்.
