. As of June 2011, the latest official release of AUSTRUMI Linux is 2.2.9. The entire operating system and all the applications run from RAM, making AUSTRUMI faster than larger distros that must read from a disk, and allowing the boot medium to be removed after the operating system has booted.
It currently contains many packages including graphic editors, office suite, networking tools, Internet browsers, FTP and mail clients, multimedia packages, classic games and system tools. It used openbox
as its window manager
prior to release 1.2.0. In release 1.2.0 it switched over to the Enlightenment
window manager and in release 1.5.0 to the Metacity
window manager. AUSTRUMI currently uses the FVWM
window manager.
