Austria is a third tier rugby union
playing nation. They began playing international rugby in the early 1990s. Thus far, Austria has not made an appearance at any of the World Cups.

After not winning one game in 2002, Austria went on to win every fixture in 2004, creating an undefeated streak which was broken by Denmark
in 2005.

On 3 May 2008, an incident took place in the town centre of Vilnius, Lithuania, where about 20 of the team members performed an unusual, unofficial nude drunken act. Afterwards the Austrian Rugby Federation issued an apology and stated that the behaviour was unacceptable.External links
