Notable residents

  • Stephen McCormick, (1784–1875), born in Auburn, noted inventor and manufacturer, introduced cast-iron plow to America. At that time, West Virginia had not succeeded from Virginia.

  • Jerry W.White - (1972- ) enlisted in the US Army, Served in Desert Storm, Bosnia, Kosovo, Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF 2) and OIF 7, Graduate of West Virginia State University RBA, He continues to serve with the West Virginia National Guard as a Staff Sargent. He resides in Cross Lanes with his wife Tracy, sons Nathan, Connor and Bailey.
