The Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) is a non-profit organization founded to foster research, facilitate information exchange, further professional education and provide for the advancement of professional standards and practices in the field of sex offender evaluation and treatment. ATSA publishes and requires its members to adhere to the ethical standards of the association, but it does not credential its members or certify any individual's fitness to provide services. ATSA “is an international organization focused specifically on the prevention of sexual abuse through effective management of sex offenders.” The association has state chapters throughout the U.S.

ATSA publishes policy statements of issues relevant to the public policy on the management of sexual offenders. Such policies include “Community Notification Position Statement, Reducing Sexual Abuse Through Treatment and Intervention with Abusers,” “Anti-Androgen Therapy and Surgical Castration, Civil Commitment of Sexually Violent Offenders,” “Position on the Effective Legal Management of Juvenile Sexual Offenders,” “Sexual Abuse as a Public Health Problem,” “The Importance of Balancing the Need for Research and Participant Protection.” The association has also produced fact sheets, including information on “Children with Sexual Behavior Problems,” “Effective Community Management of Sex Offenders, Pedophiles and Child Molesters: The Differences,” “Public Health Approach To Sexual Abuse/Assault Fact Sheet,” “Risk Assessment,” “Sexual Abuse/Assault Prevention Fact Sheet,” “Ten Things You Should Know About Sex Offenders and Treatment.”

ATSA holds annual conferences, and research findings have been presented at ATSA conferences prior to their appearance in peer-reviews journals.

Representatives of ATSA have been called upon to comment on relevant public policy issues,
including Keith Kaufman, Jill Levenson, and Steven Jenson.
