. As another hiring tool for recruiting employees, the assessment center, in my eyes, can be ideal for an employer to get an idea of how the applicants will perform in the conditions they will be expected to perform in. By adding simulation exercises, applicants can also get hands on idea of their routine tasks they will be asked to complete on a daily basis. As stated by Rosann L. Spiro, Gregory A. Rich, and William J. Stanton in their work, “Management of a Sales Force,” some exercises may involve business games, case analyses, leaderless discussion groups, role playing, or individual presentations.” By simulating individuals in real organization activities, it will decrease the risk in investing in applicants by hiring them based on knowing their performance abilities compared to hiring someone based on a verbal interview. An assessment center is becoming widely used and practiced mainly because it does work and saves companies money by getting the hiring right and not investing in individuals who cease to meet company expectations and need to be replaced. This way companies can train only those who have already portrayed their abilities to increase productivity within the company. The current Wikipedia information about “assessment centers” is missing vital information which will help individuals understand the concept more thoroughly. It employs a variety of techniques and multiple observers in a closed setting to evaluate candidates. Based on an analysis of the skills and competencies for the job in question exercises for the candidates are selected in order to reveal information regarding the required qualities and attributes.
