Askira uba is one of the biggest Local Government Areas of Borno State
.It has an area of 2,362 km² and a population of 138,091 at the 2006 census. It is dominated by Mostly the Marghi Tribe, although different dielects and some Fulani in the upland areas. It is one of the settlement areas of the Christian Missionaries in Northern Nigeria
