Corruption

Arthur Somare has failed to challenge allegations of official corruption. In a legal bid of charges laid against him by the Ombudsman Commission, he went to the National Court seeking a judicial review but failed.

Arthur Somare allegedly failed to submit several years worth of financial statements and misapplied electoral funding.

Justice Gibbs Salika said their arguments had no merit and he rejected the application when Mr Somare's lawyers argued the commission was biased against Arthur and denied him natural justice.

Mr Somare now has to answer to the charges before the PNG Leadership Tribunal, just as his Father did.
