. The attendance area served by Arroyo High School consists of four different communities: El Monte, Temple City, Arcadia, and an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County. The attendance area of the 40-acre high school is approximately four square miles and is bounded on the north by Live Oak Avenue, on the west by El Monte Avenue and Arden Drive, and on the south by the railroad tracks at Ramona Boulevard. The eastern boundary is formed by going north on Peck Road from Ramona to Lambert Street and east on Lambert to the San Gabriel River. Arroyo High School has a reputation for having a very safe campus.

History
Arroyo High School opened its doors in 1955 and its first graduating class was the class of 1958. The school is now in its 53rd year of operation. Since then, more than 20,000 students have received their high school diplomas from Arroyo. Gradutates of Arroyo can be found in various professions, ranging from being teachers (here at Arroyo) to college presidents to academy award winners, as well as a recent Pulitzer Prize winner. The school is truly a comprehensive high school with a curriculum that meets the wide range of needs found within our attendance area. Arroyo High School provides college preparatory, vocational, and general education programs for all its students.Marching Band Trailer Accident
On October 18, 2008, the award-winning Arroyo High School Marching Band and Color-guard suffered a devastating loss. Many of their instruments were destroyed during a freeway accident. The Arroyo High School Marching Band and Color-Guard used to store their instruments in the trailer. While they were on their way to a competition in Chino, the trailer flipped over along the 60 Freeway. The estimated cost to replace the damaged equipment is around $40,000.Notable alumni
