In 1945, Arno Peters received his doctorate at the University of Berlin, writing his dissertation on political propaganda. This interest pushed Peters into studying synchronoptic world history, which focuses on giving all people of the world equal voice, by making a timeline with each year getting equal space on a page. This project culminated in Peters' development of the Peters world map in 1974.
