Sales certification

In January 1980, CAPIF gave the first certifications in gold and platinum. From that time until December 31, 2000, the criteria for certification were:

Singles:
  • Gold: 50,000
  • Platinum: 100,000


Long plays & cassettes (albums):
  • Gold: 30,000
  • Platinum: 60,000
  • Diamond: 500,000


Compilation albums:
  • Gold: 100,000
  • Platinum: 200,000


The criteria for certification were changed as of January 1, 2001. CAPIF certification criteria for albums since that date are:
  • Gold: 20,000 units
  • Platinum: 40,000 units
  • Diamond: 250,000 units


Compilation albums are not eligible for certification. Singles no longer certified in Argentina.
