. He was styled Lord Kennedy until 1831, and Earl of Cassilis thereafter until his death.

He married Eleanor Allardyce, on 1 May 1814. They had ten children:

As he predeceased his father, he never succeeded to any of the former's titles. however he was styled as Earl of Cassilis between 1831 and 1832.
