Prior to the opening of Arbor Creek, students in the Carrollton portion of LISD were bused to Griffin Middle School (1982-1989) and Lakeview Middle School (1989-1994), both located in The Colony. As the north Carrollton portion of LISD grew, Arbor Creek was expanded in 1996 with an additional classroom wing. Two additional middle schools were opened - Creek Valley Middle School in 2001 and Killian Middle School in 2008 - to relieve overcrowing.
