It was founded in the Reformed
tradition in 1971. There are currently three campuses, one for grades pre-K-5 at the Ridgely campus in Annapolis, one for grades 6-8 (middle school) at the Bestgate Road campus in Annapolis, and one for grades 9-12 (high school) in Severn, about 19 miles northwest of Annapolis. The main business offices of the school are located at the Bestgate Road campus.

The school offers many Advanced Placement classes, including American Literature, English Literature, Macroeconomics, Government, Biology, Physics, Calculus, Spanish, French, United States History, Statistics, Studio Art, and Drawing.
The Women's Choir is an entry-level choir for those with little to no musical or vocal experience, but there are also those with musical and vocal experience. it is taught by Leia Bennett. It consists of girls from ninth to twelfth grade.
The Men's Ensemble is an entry-level choir for men with little to no musical or vocal experience, but it also consists of experienced musicians and vocalists. It consists of men from ninth to twelfth grade. In the Spring of 2011, the Men's Ensemble embarked on their very first Choir Tour to Canada with the Bell'Arte Singers and Madrigal Choir.
Men of Note is a small chamber choir, consisting of about eight members, all male. They are from tenth to twelfth grade and generally showcase one piece at the AACS Christmas and Spring Concerts. They are a student led group that started in 2009, under the direction of Leia Bennett.
The Madrigals Choir is a 17 member chamber Choir under the direction of Leia Bennett, but formerly under the direction of Cindy Bauchspies. In past years, they were invited to Rome, Italy to sing at a festival. In the audience was the Pope.
Girls' high school sports include basketball, cheerleading, cross country, field hockey, soccer, lacrosse, softball, volleyball and tennis.
All boys' sports participate in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association
(MIAA), while all girls' sports participate in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland (IAAM).
