company, located on the south bank of the Bugsby's Reach
of the River Thames
in the New Charlton
area of London in the London Borough of Greenwich

The wharf was named after John Julius Angerstein
(1732-1823), a local land owner, investor, businessman and art collector. It is serviced by the 'Angerstein Railway Line' (in 2003 believed to be only used for commercial freight, mainly sea-dredged aggregate landed at Angerstein Wharf) linking the wharf area, located on the border between the Greenwich Peninsula
and Charlton
, with the main railway network. As a result, an area of formerly largely industrial land in between the 'Angerstein Railway Line' and another North Greenwich industrial line, both to the east of the present A102 road
, is sometimes referred to as the 'Angerstein Triangle'.
