The title character is a mouse who is an angel. He lives on earth with his friend Quilly, a bird, and receives missions to do good deeds from "You-know-who" (God

). He has wings and a "thingamajig" (halo

), which slips, wobbles or even disappears when he misbehaves or neglects his mission. Other characters are the sensible elephant, Elliemum and her Baby Ellie, Oswald, a speed-loving, roller-skating duck, Spencer, a dotty teddy bear and Little Petal, a cute rag doll.

There are also Angelmouse books and plush toys.
