UCD

A product of Crumlin United's schoolboy ranks, Boyle began his senior career with UCD. After his participation in UCD's A Championship winning side of 2008 Boyle was promoted to UCD's first team for the 2009 First Division season. He made his debut for UCD on the day before his 18th birthday, 6 March 2009 against Limerick

 at the UCD Bowl Despite his inexperience, Boyle immediately cemented his place in UCD's defence by starting 34 games in all competitions over the season as UCD won the 2009 First Division title and automatic promotion back to the Premier Division at the first attempt. In 2010 Boyle remained with UCD and made his debut in the Premier Division as UCD finished a respectable 7th. He won his second A Championship title with UCD following their 2-1 victory over Bohemians A on 1 November 2010. Boyle departed UCD at the end of the 2010 season after 63 career appearances and 1 goal.

Shelbourne

On 14 December 2010, Shelbourne announced they signed Boyle ahead of the 2011 First Division season.

International career

Boyle is a current Republic of Ireland Under 19 international having won his first Under 19 cap against Portugal Under 19s on 8 September 2009. He also won caps for the Republic of Ireland at Under 18 level and has participated for the Republic of Ireland's international Under 18 schoolboys side.
