Andreas Berger is a former Austria

, who ran in the 100m and 200m.
His biggest success came in 1989 when he won the European Indoor Championship's 60 meter dash. In 1987 and 1989 he reached the semi-finals (outdoors) and 1989 (indoors). He participated in the 1988 Summer Olympics
(placed 17th in the 100m and 33rd in the 200m). Berger caused two false starts during a 100 meter qualifyer at the 1992 Summer Olympics
and was disqualified. Still holds the Austrian 100m dash record (10.15s, 1988).
In 1993, Berger was approached for a routine doping screen, and after unsuccessfully trying to perform a retograde catheterization (!) - allegedly with his trainer's urine - admitted to having used performance-enhancing drugs (the steroid methan-dienon). The event received considerable press coverage in Austria.
He was Austrian 100/200 metre champion thirteen times. Berger also won the Austrian 60/200 metre indoor championships on six occasions. He competed at the European championships in Stuttgart 1986 in the 100 metres, bu did not advance pass the semi-final.
