Only the first part in four volumes of 2893 pages was made. It includes many anarchist tendencies. There were several hundreds of collaborators among whom are in addition to Sebastien Faure himself, Luigi Bertoni

- the history of the thought and the anarchist action
- biographies of the militants and thinkers
- biographies of individuals having contributed by their works to human emancipation
- a catalogue of the books and anarchist reviews
